As part of the State of Texas’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, Governor Greg Abbott signed an emergency rule mandating that health care plans cover telehealth and telemedicine the same as they would cover in-person services. This rule extends to mental health services as well.
So as not to disrupt access to mental health services, Brazos Valley Mental Health and Wellness has made the decision to move to telehealth sessions with our clients effective tomorrow, March 19. We are doing this out of an abundance of caution and in keeping with public health recommendations. This decision is in effect until April 3, when we will re-evaluate the situation. New clients will still be seen in-person for their first session with us.
Brazos Valley Mental Health and Wellness understands that access to mental health services is critical in this challenging situation. We want to assure current and future clients that, although the method of providing our services has temporarily changed, our commitment to helping our clients to overcome their struggles and become the best version of themselves has not.
