During this unprecedented period, everyone has had to make significant changes to their day-to-day life. Social distancing means that families are now isolated at home together, with routine activities like going out, work, or school brought to a sudden stop. Social distancing can also disconnect us from friends and outside family we usually see on a regular basis. Change is hard on everyone, especially in a context of anxiety and fear, but it can be especially hard on children and young adults, who may not always communicate their difficulties to people who can help and support them.
We are beginning group art therapy sessions for children and teens, conducted remotely on ZOOM. Art therapy can offer your child a needed opportunity for socialization with peers and a way for them to express their thoughts and feelings about their life and the current situation in a unique and healthy way. In art therapy, participants are able to communicate their unconscious sentiments through the creative decisions they make, such as what to draw and how. Bringing these unconscious thoughts and feelings into the open can help us to address them quickly and effectively.
Each group session will have about five participants, and the cost is $15 to participate. Contact our office by phone or email for more information or to sign up your child for this enriching activity.
