Belinda Velanzuela is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Texas A&M University, College Station, and a Master of Arts in counseling from Sam Houston State University, with a minor in marriage and family therapy.
Belinda has ten years of experience in the mental health field, primarily with at-risk youth and families. She has worked on an individual, family, and group basis, using a multi-modal approach in areas including, but not limited to, depression, self-harm, self-esteem, and various life issues that people experience at different stages of development.
“My theory of counseling is a multi-modal approach which is determined upon intake with the client. What this means is, I take elements from different theoretical approaches to suit the client’s needs, with the belief that there is not one specific theory that is perfect for all. My goal with this approach is to provide the client with whatever tools they need to function in their everyday life, to replace unhealthy coping skills with healthy ones, and to change the narrative of their life experience if it is affecting them negatively.”
