I decided to enter the counseling field because I love helping people to consider alternative perspectives about themselves that can lead to positive growth. I am working toward licensure as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Over the past two-and-a-half years I have been in this field, I have also studied and practiced Child Parent Relational Therapy (CPRT).
My perspective when working with clients focuses on taking the time to understand a person’s past in order to gain insight into how these past experiences can influence the person’s present and future. I also seek an understanding of the connections between one’s thoughts and one’s behaviors. I use expressive arts, creativity, and symbolism with my clients to supplement traditional talk therapy sessions, including Sandtray therapy. When working with children, I also utilize play therapy.
I specialize in working with children and parents, but I am open to anyone interested in experiencing therapy in a creative way. My major focus areas are trauma, anxiety, depression, child behavioral issues, and relationship concerns.
