My name is Nelson Thomas. I recently graduated the Master’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Lamar University in December of 2025.
I’m currently working towards securing my license and seeing clients at our Brenham office of Brazos Valley Mental Health and Wellness and online under the supervision of Sherry Haferkamp-Watson, Psy.D. I take clients of all backgrounds, ages ten and up. My hours are flexible to accommodate most individual scheduled to include both day and evening hours. Currently I see clients on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Being a disabled vet who served 19 years as a firefighter/EMT in the Air Force, I have witnessed the impact of individuals who have struggled with PTSD, anxiety/depression, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. As a result, my passion for helping others resulted in becoming the founder and Executive Director of Survivors Against Suicide (non-profit organization).
We all desire to be genuinely seen, heard, and understood. We all strive to have authentic connection and recognition by others. When you are experiencing life’s challenges, and there can be quite a few, it can sometimes feel overwhelming. It may appear as a path you must walk alone. This is the furthest from the truth.
I am here to assist you and guide you back to yourself. Don’t let traumatic situations hinder your ability to establish or sustain relationships. Don’t let what has happened in your past derail your future. I will guide you from the darkness of your past into a brighter tomorrow. We will collaborate together, focusing not only on your healing but also on moving towards your life’s purpose and aspirations.
